With being married for over 10 years, a LOT has changed since then when it comes to the wedding industry. When it comes to incorporating trendy things, I feel like the wedding world possibilities have drastically changed and improved over the years. So, to help you all, i've put together a list of things/vendors i wish were trendy back in the day when we got married.
LIVE PAINTER
I've seen it recently and I wish we would have incorporated a live painter on our wedding day. Don't get me wrong... photos and video are a necessity on the wedding day, but having a live painter sketch out a beautiful memory from your big day just puts the cheers on top.
2. First Look
I think I was so stuck in tradition when we got married that I never was opened to a first look. And honestly, I regret it big time. Being in the wedding industry, I've seen so many first looks and the pros that come with it. My top pro for it it that you get to truly spend the day together. Rather than waiting until the ceremony later in the day, doing a first look earlier in the day gives you that chance to spend the day together. The second pro is the fact that it gives you the chance to work with weather. If it ends up raining during the ceremony, you already did most of your photos. So, no reason to fret. My third reason is that it gives you the chance to break up taking photos throughout the day so youre not sick of photo taking. My last reason is it's a more intimate moment between just the two of you.
3. MOBILE VENDORS
Oh how I wish mobile vendors were a thing then. I definitely would have incorporated a few for our wedding. Mobile vendors give you the chance to enhance your guests experience at your wedding and make it a night to remember. Whether its a cocktail bar with your choice of custom drinks, a mobile cigar bar, or even a cotton candy bar, it gives your guest a great experience to set your wedding apart.
Some of the mobile bars i wish i would have included...
*TAP THE COAST MOBILE BAR
*ASH AND AIR MOBILE CIGAR LOUNGE
*WHIM COTTON CANDY
4. NOT HIRING A PLANNER
Trust me, I understand how much weddings cost. BUT, there are certain things that are WORTH THE MONEY. Hiring a planner is one of them. There is so much that goes on behind the scenes that you don't even know or think about. It's up to the planner to make sure all of those little things are taken care of. Making sure all the vendors arrived along with the correct things... Keeping the wedding party on time throughout the day... making sure the cake is cut and served to guests.... Trust me... leave it to the professionals and just hire the planner.
5. WRITING OUR OWN VOWS.
When it comes to wedding videography, vows are very important. If you're a fan of traditional vows, thats totally fine. For me, I wish we would have written our own vows for our wedding video. Even if it's not vows during the ceremony, we've had so many couple even do a private vow reading either before or after the ceremony with just the two of them. It just gives that person touch to your wedding video.
No matter what you choose for your wedding day, I promise it'll be special and beautiful no matter what. Your wedding should only represent you both in a way that is true to you. Don't stress over making everyone happy because this day is about you! Whether you want a huge party or a small intimate wedding with a few of your closest relatives, its important to remember the "why" behind the day.
