Caulfield Wedding's Pensacola Beach Wedding

Bergen and Grant's Pensacola Beach Wedding was something straight out of a fairytale. We often get the chance, being Pensacola Wedding Photographers, to shoot absolutely stunning weddings on the beautiful sands of Pensacola Beach. And let me tell you.... this one was one for the books.

Number One Tip for Future Phocus Couples to Consider About The Wedding Day:

Try your best to be present and WITH one another throughout your day, and not let the stress of others become yours. Remember and continue to remind yourselves the reason that you are there on that day.

What moment were you most looking forward to seeing in the photos/video?

I am so excited to see our first dance that we spent so much time practicing. We took dance classes weekly for approximately 2 months leading up to our day and they were the best date nights we've had in some time. Additionally, I am looking forward to seeing the photos with my mom and dad. My dad tries to hide his "sappiness" all the time but he wasn't holding back on that day and I'm so grateful. They made me into the woman I'm proud to be today. -Bergen

What moment were you most looking forward to seeing in the photos/video?

I am most looking forward to see how the voice overs of the ceremony and vows combined with the videography of the special moments of the first look, ceremony, and first dance! -Grant

How did you two meet?

Oooooh boy. By the grace of God, if you ask me (Bergen)! I was having dinner and drinks with my friends and college neighbors over Christmas break at "Joe Blacks" and in walks Grant-- peacoat, scarf and all. I kicked my cousin under the table to make her realize that was the boy I've been sending her screenshots of trying to figure out who he was. I happened to knock the straw out of my drink with the sleeve of my shirt and before I looked up, Grant was already putting a new straw in my drink. Some could call it love at first sight ;)

Tell us about THE dress! What made you fall in love?

I traveled back to my home state of North Dakota and got to try on dresses with my cousin (MOH), sister, niece, and mom. I had a COMPLETELY different look/style in mind, being that it would be a laid-back, beach wedding. But then I tried on thee dress.... and started to cry. It just felt right. Before confirming it was the one, I tried all of the "runner ups" on once more, only to find myself standing once again in the dress and crying all over again. Leading up to the wedding, I kept asking Grant what he thought the dress would look like, and he described it as, "tight on the top, flaring out at the bottom. I bet it has flowers but also sparkles. I don't think it has sleeves or straps." ...... It's a good thing we're married. He knows me.

What was your first dance song, and why did you choose it?

We chose Peer Pressure by James Bay. Months into our meeting, I (Bergen) was adamant that Grant join me at the concert that was coming up. Grant responded via text (living four hours away from one another at the time), "Should I give into your peer pressure?" (lyrics of the song that Bergen didn't know he had already known). Cheesy, but so unlike him at the time. It was the most intimate, personal, romantic experience we would have together for a long time! Years later, we enjoyed another concert by James Bay together, and the elderly couple seated behind us tapped on our shoulder and asked who the artist was (he was the opening act). They said they hoped to find an artist to enjoy together in the way that they witnessed us.

Describe what you felt when you saw your bride on your wedding day:

"Oh my goodness" were the first words that came out of my mouth, but the tears of joy and happiness were much more apparent as I was so amazed by how beautiful she looked in the dress. I was truly speechless and blown away and felt lucky that I get to spend the rest of my life with the woman standing in front of me and who has been by my side the last 4.5 years. -Grant

Describe what you felt when you saw your groom on your wedding day:

Grateful. Unconditionally excited. So beyond full of love and life. So eager to step into this next journey of life together. -Bergen

What was the most emotional part of the day for you?

Reading my vows to Grant!! I have practiced them aloud to my doggy so many times leading up to the big day in attempt to reduce the tears... it didn't work. It felt so emotional to share these vows with Grant in front of the people who supported every word and the people who trust that I will fulfill them too. -Bergen

What was the most emotional part of the day for you?

The most emotional part of the day for me was the suspense of waiting for the first look. I was looking off into the ocean on the pier not knowing when I would be able to turn around and see the woman of my dreams. A few minutes felt like a few hours and I couldn't hold back the tears of joy during the wait. -Grant

What is ONE moment of your day that you will always remember?

The one special moment that we will always remember is the time our officiant pronounced us "husband and wife". The most exhilarating and anticipated moment that will never be forgotten.

Favorite part of the Phocus Experience?

Tim getting us dinner ;-) JUST KIDDING -- but we are so grateful for all of the "small" things that they did for us throughout our day that allowed us to enjoy and be present with one another. Our favorite part about the Phocus Experience was the way in which they allowed the two of us to be together, plain and simple. They gave us space, they gave us time, and they allowed us to take it all in.

From the moment we met with Bergen and Grant, we knew we had an instant connection. The love that radiated between these two was something electric. We literally could relive this wedding day over and over. Congrats to these two was they begin this next chapter!
