Nate + Tierra

Number One Tip for Future Phocus Brides to Consider:

"Do not sweat anything, yeah you will regret it and yes you will trouble yourself after with all the things that wasn’t exactly how you pictured it but God is in control and the more you force the less you catch. Focus on love and laughter! Spread the wealth with reliable people and it will happen."-Tierra

Let's face it... not everything happens to plan. Yes. Things WILL pop up on the wedding day, whether you forget that one thing, fall behind on the schedule or something doesn't work out the way you envisioned it. Just remember to go with the flow. This day only happens once. I can 100% say that about Nate and Tierra. Watching them all day, you could see the love radiate off of them. Tierra was FULL of smiles the ENTIRE day and listening to Nate tell us about the moment he met his future bride (which you'll read down below) was something out of a Hallmark movie.

What moment were you most looking forward to seeing in the photos?

" Tierra walking down the isle. All of her..."-Nate

"Teeth lol! All I wanted was smiles especially from Nathan’s face.  The genuine ones. The lantern see off was at the top too!"-Tierra

LET. ME. TELL. YOU. ABOUT. NATE. AND TIERRA'S. SEND OFFFFFFFF!!

These two had SOOOOO many things about their wedding that 1. I LOVEEE, 2. I wish we would get to see more of. and 3. I wish we would have incorporated into our own wedding!

We get the chance to see so many different send offs at the end of the wedding day. We see bubbles, sparklers, confetti, and other crazy things but, never have we had the opportunity to do wishing lanterns (Not that we haven't wanted to. But to be honest, it's been on my "photographer bucket list for quite some time.)

This was PERFECT for some sweet moments. Not only for the bride and groom, but I think I could say their wedding guests had just as much fun with them!

It was literally like the scene in Tangled where she watched the lanterns float off into the nightlife sky. Not going to lie, I may have wanted to sing a few Disney songs at the moment just to make it EVEN more magical. If that was even possible.

THISSSS>>>> How did you two meet? "We both met for the first time at Fort Hood, TX. Honestly, I noticed her well before she ever noticed me. She was a very focused professional person and I was pretty focused but I still noticed her.

We went about our separate ways both deploying to different countries and really having our own life and work to think about. But, once we returned to the US and a little push from some friends, there was no way I wasn’t going to find out more about this girl.

Tierra’s heart is in travel and I knew one way to get to know her was to plan a trip with her. Actually it was the only way to get her in one place. Continuing to get to know her before the trip and our girls meeting for the first time made it clear God put us in each other’s path for more than friendship. I knew I had to marry her.

As tradition Dad and I picked out the perfect ring for Tierra. Her mother’s blessing was needed and granted .

I carried that ring the entire trip...nerve wrecking for sure. But, on the most perfect sunset in Calabash Cove, St.Lucia. I asked the most beautiful girl to spend forever with me." -Nate

Tell us about THE dress! "Girlfriends Kaylynn and Katherine road tripped with me to Slidell, LA. I had heard of a neat shop for dresses and will take any chance I can for a drive thru daiquiri shop and Cajun food!

I tried on a couple and the last one was mine for sure.

I turned around and literally we all cried! I don’t even cry!!! Well let’s get real I do more now I’m past 30.

The all lace, ivory, low cut front and back and long sleeve! Done!!!!" -Tierra

Tell Us About Your First Dance! "We danced to This is Us by William Clark Green because we are who we are, ups and downs and all. This song expresses the truths of love and who we are."

Describe the BRIDE on your wedding day!

"Flawless. Breath-taking. Allllll of those words. Yep." -Nate

Describe the GROOM on your wedding day! "Yes! What a perfect groom. So handsome. Taking care of me every step of the way. He is Love."-Tierra

What was the most EMOTIONAL part of the day and WHY?

"Seeing Tierra for the first time in her dress. We were traditional and didn’t spend the night together the night before nor did we see each other all day! My girl was coming for me." -Nate

"Practicing and revising my vows. I knew I’d cry because I knew how much God was in on this. Putting it on paper and practicing was very hard. Also, Right after the ceremony there was a special moment between my grandmother and I. I will cherish that moment til the end." -Tierra

What is ONE moment of your wedding you will always remember?

"Cleansing each other’s feet. We are one now...we are quick to grab a towel and serve each other. God was there in that moment."

Throughout the whole day, there were so many sweet, unique moments between Nate and Tierra. Right after the ceremony, the two of them headed over to a small intimate area where they washed each other's feet. There was nothing sweeter than washing one another's feet as their first moments as husband and wife.

You might ask, "why would you wash each other's feet". It's simple... because Jesus did. He showed us love and servanthood through it. Why wasn't it the disciples that washed Jesus' feet?? Because He wanted to show us how to be servants to one another.... how to be humble and most importantly, how to love.

Why would the King of Kings wash something so dirty and filthy... it's because of love.

Here is a little glimpse of Nate and Tierra's GORGEOUS day...

The AMAZING team that made it happen...
