Number One Tip for Future Phocus Couples to Consider:
Follow instructions from the team and don’t ask questions! They have the best visuals.
As photographers, we have all these ideas and creative moments we want to try with our couples. Sometimes, we get 1) the couple that is 100% down to try anything and 2) extra time throughout the day to get those extra creative shots. When we saw this dock at Bay Front Lodge and Cabin, we knew we HAD to shoot it. Not to mention, we had our video team out there getting drone footage for the venue. Let's just say, they were down to give us a few moments for a few aerial shots of Mallary and Alec...and they turned out AMAZING!
What moment were you most looking forward to seeing in the photos/video? The drone footage
These two cuties were so sweet throughout the day. There was a calm about Mallary that just felt so easy. Working with both of them, I could tell they were 100% best friends. To us, having that friendship makes it even better on the wedding day.
How did you two meet? Church camp in Albion Indiana

What was your first dance song, and why did you choose it? In case you didn’t know- we’ve always loved that song and it describes our love!
Describe what you felt when you saw your bride on your wedding day: Amazed.
Describe what you felt when you saw your groom on your wedding day: He was so incredibly handsome and absolutely perfect. I felt immediate relief and fell in love all over again when I got to see him moments before he was my husband.
We absolutely LOVED Alec's look for the day! His tan, plaid suit was definitely a vibe!
What was the most emotional part of the day? Seeing my dad and reading my letter to my mom.
OH my goodness. You don't even know the emotions that were flowing when Mallary first saw her dad on the wedding day. When she walked down those stair and tapped him on the shoulder was so sweet. The moment he turned around, thy completely lost it with their emotions. We were 100% there. for. it!
We love the closeness of their family throughout the day. Mallary's relationship with her mom was so sweet. Their bond was very close. We always recommend not only having those close moments with your fiancé but also the people your close with. Whether it's doing a first look with dad or reading a letter with mom, incorporating those moments into the timeline is so important.
What was the most emotional part of the day? First look with my soon to be wife.
What is ONE moment of your day that you will always remember? Our last dance.
At the end of the night, we decided to do something a little intimate for the both of them. Sometimes with all the hustle and bustle of the wedding day, moments come and go so fast. When Alec and Mallary told us they weren't planning on doing an exit, we decided to take them out on the dock for one last dance. One last moment of the day for them to get away from the wedding and just be in the moment together. 10/10 HIGHLY recommend!
Favorite part of the Phocus Experience? Everything. They were perfect
Mallary and Alec were so easy to capture. The whole day was so laid back and beautiful. Surrounded by the people around them, they really enjoyed the small moments of the day! Congrats to these two cuties.
